About

In June 2011, our teachers for next year told us we had to do a special assignment over the summer: The Personal Project.

The Personal Project is an independent research project that a student produces in the 10th grade. It is a creative endeavor of the student's choosing that demonstrates the skills the student has learned in Approaches to Learning. Assessment of the Personal Project is based on a set of 8 specific criteria that are normalized to a scale of 1--7. The Personal Project is designed to demonstrate the student's ability to organize, create, and complete a significant body of work.
I've always dreamed of producing my own album -- you know, like a CD of my music. And now I'm doing it!

I plan to sell my album to the public so that I can donate the profits to Ear Candy, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing children with access to music education, because, unfortunately, not all children have the same opportunities that I have been blessed with. Especially with the current economy, many schools and families do not treat education in the arts as a priority. It is often cut from the curriculum schools do not fund the programs, and other times families "cut" music education from lives because they see little value of it.

One of the requirements of the Personal Project is to maintain a "Process Journal," which is basically a way to track your progress and reflect on what you have accomplished so far. This blog is going to act as my Process Journal -- I will use it to document the process of planning, creating, recording, designing, and distributing my very own album of music.

I hope you will join me in this exciting journey as you follow my experiences with this blog. I can't wait!
