First original song on the album!

I have been having problems obtaining licensing for cover songs that I would like to have on my album. Often times, the song is too new for the rights to even be available. In other scenarios, the licensing fees are way to expensive for me to even think about paying for this project.


A simple -- yet not so simple -- way around this is to write original songs for the album. But I have a feeling that a whole album of original songs will take a lot more time to create than I am allowed by the time frame I am on.

I don't know what to do about the cover songs yet, but I started to write the first original song for the album this evening, and I got about half way through it. Yay for progress!
